Tree Care:

Planting:
Choose a location with full sun to partial shade. In hotter southern zones, afternoon shade is highly recommended to protect the tree from leaf scorch and heat stress.

Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and to the same depth. Prefers fertile, organic, moist, and slightly acidic soils that drain exceptionally well.

Watering:
Provide deep, regular watering 1–2 times a week during the first few growing seasons to establish a healthy root system.

Maintain consistent soil moisture throughout the summer. Because dogwoods possess a relatively shallow root system, they have a low tolerance for prolonged drought or dried-out soil.

Fertilizing:
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer tailored for acid-loving trees in early spring before new growth starts.

Avoid over-fertilizing with heavy nitrogen, which can lead to excessive foliage growth at the expense of the spring flower display.

Pruning:
Requires very little pruning due to its naturally graceful growth pattern.

If necessary, prune in late winter or very early spring while the tree is completely dormant to remove dead, diseased, or crossing branches. Avoid pruning in late spring or summer to preserve next year's flower buds.

Pest and Disease Control:
Monitor for common dogwood vulnerabilities such as powdery mildew, spot anthracnose, and dogwood borers.

Ensure proper airflow through the canopy by avoiding crowded plantings, and rake up fallen autumn leaves to minimize fungal overwintering.

Winter Care:
Apply a 3-inch layer of organic mulch or shredded bark over the root zone in late autumn to insulate the shallow roots from freezing temperatures. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the trunk bark to prevent rot.

Appearance:
Erupts in early spring with an incredibly heavy, reliable display of large, snow-white blossoms (bracts) that can measure up to 5 inches across, completely blanketing the bare branches before leaves emerge.

Followed in autumn by clusters of shiny, bright red ornamental berries that are highly prized as a winter food source by songbirds.

Foliage:
Oval, crisp green leaves form a lush, elegant canopy during the spring and summer months.

In autumn, the foliage transitions into a stunning, dramatic display of rich reddish-purple, scarlet, and deep bronze-red tones.

Shape and Growth:
Features an upright growth habit when young that spreads horizontally with maturity, developing the classic, multi-tiered architectural branching look.

Grows at a slow-to-moderate rate, typically maturing at a highly manageable 15–25 feet tall and wide.

Bloom Characteristics:
Celebrated as one of the finest and most prolific white-flowering dogwood cultivars available. It is uniquely noted for blooming at a much younger age than standard wild dogwoods, consistently producing larger bracts and a higher volume of flowers every spring.
